In the early 1950’s, a growing church congregation was meeting in a home centered in the Hillyard neighborhood. Wanting to serve the North East community of Spokane in ever increasing ways, they began construction of a new church building to be located down the street from their current location. In the summer of 1953, the cornerstone was laid and worship services, ministries and other activities transferred to their new location on the corner of Crestline & Everett. The Hillyard Church of God congregation was launched. The faithful founders of this congregation worked tirelessly to serve the God they loved and the people of Spokane. They cared for people and preached God’s Word. They believed that all should be welcome and simply believing in the Lord Jesus Christ made you a brother or sister in the Family of God. Jesus Christ was their savior, The Holy Spirit was their guide and the Bible was their creed. Over the years the church has grown and the leadership team has met many changes and new challenges head on. New property and developments have been added, along with many miniseries to help serve people both locally and around the world. Most importantly, lives have been saved as hundreds, if not thousands of people have given their hearts to God. One major change took place in 1995 when the decision came to make a bold new step. Just as Hillyard Church of God was planted by faith, courageous men and women would once again seek after God for new things. It was decided that a new work would begin across town called New Horizons church, while others would stay behind to continue ministries in the present location. The church was renamed; Fellowship Church of God. The last last few years have seen God moving just as powerfully as ever in the lives of the Fellowship Church family. We are experiencing a new and fresh anointing of God’s Spirit through our three important distinctives; The Word – Worship – Witness. Through Worship we desire to connect with God Through the Word we desire to become strong and courageous disciples Through our Witness we desire to make a positive impact in a lost and hurting world At Fellowship Church, God continues to change lives, restoring our brokenness and helping us live with purpose and meaning. Like those who have gone before us, once again we are prayerfully working to make a difference in the world around us. The greatest days for Fellowship Church are yet ahead as the story continues…
